Providing an excellent setting for addressing health concerns is the workplace of which industrial/organizational (I/O) psychologists have much to contribute in this area. Presented will be five models for addressing health concerns in the workplace along with the recommendation of making use of the broader systems approach.
Introduction will occur of a set of criteria for health practice and research and the potential for contribution of I/O psychology in addressing any criteria which should meet discussion. One of the most significant issues of our time is the health of the workforce one of which I/O psychologists may be guilty of ignoring. From the time of the late 1970s to the early 1990s little would change in this regard yet within this article will be a discussion of workplace health concerns and the potential areas I/O psychologists can contribute to these concerns.
