Things are changing for Cally Friedrich....
Her best friend, Bobby Dearborn, is dead in a tragic accident. Cally can only sit in the back of the church during the public service to try and avoid gossip. Bobby's persistent friendship with the Friedrichs, a family of car thieves, brought on rumors of drugs and every other nasty speculation the small Texas town decided to dream up. Rick, Bobby's brother, is sure the Friedrichs had something to do with his death.
He's made plans to ruin them if he finds they were responsible. He's pissed to find that Cally could care less about his actions. He's a Dearborn, they practically own the town, and this ugly frog of a woman doesn't seem to acknowledge it. He's shocked when Cally literally comes out swinging. Who the hell is this woman and why does she keep winning their arguments? They're shocked to discover that Bobby has more surprises for both of them. He's encouraged Cally to strike out and prove to herself and the whole damn town that she's more than just the car thief's daughter.
